🦅 The Eagle Trail

Only about 6% of Scouts earn Eagle. Here’s the Mountain Valley roadmap, start to Board of Review.

  • District Eagle process & checklist
  • Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project Workbook (No. 512-927)
  • The current national workbook (October 2026 edition) — fillable PDF. Scouts who already started with the 2023 version may continue with it and do not need to redo it. Open it in Acrobat or another full PDF editor and use File > Save as you work — don’t print-to-PDF, which flattens the form fields.
  • Area Eagle Coordinators: Scott Meeks & Ed Potter (Augusta/Rockingham), Kemper Dadisman (Pendleton/Rockingham), Judy Goodbar (Alleghany/Bath/Rockbridge)
  • Questions? District Advancement Chair Kent Baisley

🧭 Adults & Leaders

Every Scout deserves a trained leader. Get trained, get connected, get recognized.

Get Trained

Starting a New Unit — What You Need

  • A chartered organization (church, school, civic group) that signs the charter agreement and appoints a Chartered Organization Representative.
  • At least 5 youth members (successful units usually start with 10 or more).
  • Trained adult leaders: Committee Chair plus two committee members, the unit leader (Cubmaster/Scoutmaster/Advisor), and a den leader for packs — all SYT-current.
  • A New Unit Application, adult and youth applications, and fees — turned in to the council.
  • Then: plan the program year and hold your first meeting.

Ready to start? Contact our District Executive, Robert Clemmer (robert.clemmer@scouting.org) — the district will help you through every step.
