The District Award of Merit is the highest recognition a district can bestow upon a volunteer. It honors Scouters who go above and beyond in service to youth, leadership, and the values of Scouting.

  • 💬 How to Nominate: Submit the District Award of Merit Nomination Form to district leadership by November 30.

  • 📝 Selections are based solely on nominations—if you know a deserving Scouter, make sure their story is told!


🦫 Silver Beaver Award

Presented by the council, the Silver Beaver Award recognizes exceptional service to Scouting across the Virginia Headwaters Council.

  • 📄 Download the Silver Beaver Nomination Form and submit it to the council office.

  • 🏆 Awardees demonstrate distinguished service of an exceptional character to youth within the council.


🎓 Scouter Training Awards

Every Scout deserves a trained leader. Every trained leader deserves to be recognized.

The Mountain Valley District encourages all adult volunteers to pursue training and proudly wear their recognition.

For leaders of Tiger, Cub, and Webelos dens who fulfill training, tenure, and performance milestones.
