DATE/LOCATION: Saturday Jan 4th, 2026, Fork Union Military Academy, 4744 James Madison Hwy, Fork Union, VA 23055
GENERAL INFORMATION: Classes will be overseen by trained members of the VAHC Aquatics Committee. Parents/Leaders are welcome to watch and/or participate. This is a great opportunity for Scouts to maintain aquatics skills over the winter and enable them to participate in advanced aquatics programs at summer camp. Swim Checks: These are included for Cub Scout and Scouts BSA class offerings, but this time are NOT being offered as a stand-alone event for other Scouts, parents, and leaders. Swim Checks are valid for one year and forms are emailed to unit leaders after the event. Open Swim Checks will be offered for Scouts, parents, and leaders in May/June 2026.
1. Swimming OR Lifesaving Merit Badge Classes (Max class sizes 25 and 20, select only one)
DATE / TIME: Saturday January 4th, 10:00am – 3:00pm
COST: $35 to support pool fees (pay online or at sign in)
PRE-REQUISITES: You MUST already have earned the Swimming Merit Badge to take Lifesaving!
2. Scouts BSA Rank Advancement (Max class size 20)
Participants can work on either 2nd or 1st Class aquatics rank requirements.
DATE / TIME: Saturday January 4th, 12:00pm – 2:00pm
COST: $10 to support pool fees (pay online or at sign in)
3. Cub Scout and Webelos Program
All aquatics related Cub Scout rank elements (electives/adventures) will be offered along with Aquanaut Award. Parents/leaders are welcome to participate and support their child.

COST: $10 to support pool fees (pay online or at sign in)
4. Non-swimmer Skills Development (Max class size 2 per session – 4 sessions offered, pick only one)
Develop an important life skill with our expert instructors in a very small class size! Lions through age 18!
DATE / TIME: Saturday January 4th, Session 1: 12-1pm, Session 2: 1-2pm, Session 3: 2-3pm, Session 4: 3-4pm
COST: $5 to support pool fees (pay online or at sign in)
5. Adult (and older Scout) BSA Aquatics Training (Max class size 15)
Offering official BSA “Aquatics Supervision Swimming and Water Rescue” training certification.
DATE / TIME: Saturday January 4th, 10:00am – 3:00pm
COST: $20 to support pool fees (pay online or at sign in)
PRE-REQUISITES: Must have Swimmer Classification, can take Swim Check that day if needed.
Must also complete “Safe Swim Defense” online course in advance.
WHAT TO BRING FOR ALL CLASSES: Medical Form Parts A/B, lunch/snacks/drinks if desired, towel, change of clothes (please arrive in your swimsuit ready to roll). NO BLUE CARDS OR HANDBOOKS NEEDED (signoff via BlackPug)
