The Virginia Headwaters Council is excited to launch a coordinated, council wide Join Scouting Night on Tuesday, August 26, 2026 from 6 to 8 PM at every local elementary school. This one-night event is designed to support Cub Scout Pack recruitment through a visible and well-publicized opportunity for families to learn about Scouting. By combining mass marketing and promotional material support from the Council with on-the-ground presence from packs with support from troops, we will create a unified, community-wide invitation for families to join the adventure.
What Packs Can Do:
- Attend Back-to-School Nights beforehand to hand out flyers and meet families.
- If not permitted inside the school, request permission to set up a table outside or near the main entrance.
- Host a simple, friendly booth on August 26 from 6 to 8 PM with key materials and a welcoming attitude. Most importantly, bring your scouts!
- Reach out to your Commissioner, neighboring Troop or District Committee for support as needed.
The Council Will Provide:
- Flyers, yard signs and a variety of stickers
- Digital promotions and media outreach
- Website promotion and linked resources
- Clear talking points and a planning checklist
